Death by Starvation
Acrylic on paper, 11x14, 2023
The SS was 'cost-conscious' and only a starvation diet was provided for the projected nine-month life expectancy of slave labor. This resulted in death, of course, despite the labor required. This tension existed throughout the war, which took six million Jewish lives.
The Talmud teaches that starvation is the most brutal death of all.
In the collection of Yad Vashem, Jerusalem.
Exhibited by the Gross-Rosen Muzeum, Rogoznica, Poland
