My Zaidy
Acrylic, metallic, and interference paints on paper, 18x24, 2024
The artist never met his zaidy. He perished in the Holocaust. Arriving at the death camp by cattle car with thousands of other Jews, he was separated from the stronger slaves. Along with the other old, frail, and sick, he awaits his turn for the gas chamber. He does not know. He will be dead in 15 minutes.
On loan to the Heller Museum, NYC.
In the collection of Yad Vashem, Jerusalem.
Exhibited by the Gross-Rosen Muzeum, Rogoznica, Poland
