MY ZAIDY (Grandfather)

The artist never met his zaidy. He perished in the Holocaust.
Arriving at the death camp by cattle car with thousands of other terrified Jews, he was separated from the younger, stronger slaves. Herded along with the other old, frail, and sick, he awaited his turn for what he knew not. That would be the gas chamber. He was dead in 15 minutes. That was legal and moral, regarded as everyday holiness.
